“For half the world the day begins, for half the world the day ends. Here.” Excerpt from Thursday by Bryony Lavery

From Brink Productions, the makers of the acclaimed When The Rain Stops Falling, and English Touring Theatre, one of the UK’s leading production companies, comes a powerful new international co-production.

Taking reference from the remarkable story of Adelaide woman Gill Hicks, who lost her legs in the London 2005 bombings, Thursday explores the fundamental question of what it means to be human.

The South Australian gift to Collected Works: Australia, this beautiful and fragmented collaboration is poetic and ambitious in form and content.

It layers dreams with reality, compassion with devastation and identity with loss, to build a deeply woven picture of humanity.

How can people be at once so needlessly violent, yet also capable of incredible bravery and compassion even toward complete strangers? Thursday beautifully, and with delicate skill, sets out to make sense of this contradiction.
